The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD is seeking an experienced, dynamic, compassionate, and talented leader to join the team as Controller within our Financial Services business unit. The Controller reports to a member of the executive staff, the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFAO), and would be responsible for oversight of all financial accounting and reporting activities. As a member of the Leadership Team, the Controller will be involved in supporting presentations to the Board’s Resource and Audit Committees, and will work closely with various Leadership Team members to support the programs. Core competencies of analytical skills, decision making and problem solving are key to this position. This role will be required to have the ability to interpret and apply accounting theory, analyze and consolidate accounting data, and utilize computer applications at an advanced level.
Other responsibilities include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. This position is for candidates who can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints while providing support to Agency services, leading while also being a team player, generating innovative ideas, and creating opportunities for development and engagement.
Responsibilities for this role include the following:
Prepare the Monthly Financial Report for Management and the Board of Directors.
Prepare quarterly reports for various Agency Programs
Prepare the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
Oversee monthly invoicing for contracts with County Departments, State Agencies, and Federal Agencies.
Maintain chart of accounts and report structures within the Accounting, Budgeting, and Financial Reporting Software.
Respond to request from Auditors, Stakeholders, and Center Management.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in Accounting, Finance, or similar area of study or equivalent experience. A Master’s degree and CPA are preferred. Seven (7) years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement) with demonstrated upward mobility in Accounting and Finance management roles and responsibilities is preferred with management oversight of a minimum of (5-10) direct employees. Non-profit or governmental experience highly preferred.
