The Policy Accountant assists with the review and analysis of joint venture, partnership, acquisition, debt and other legal documents to determine the appropriate accounting and reporting for the entities and transactions. This role is responsible for developing, executing, and reviewing the results of financial and operational controls. The Technical Accountant could also be responsible for general accounting functions relating to a real estate portfolio consisting of office, multi-family, industrial, retail and hotel properties to include joint ventured properties. The Technical Accountant could also be responsible for processing, reviewing, analyzing, and recording property and portfolio related operating data into financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and assist with drafting notes to financial statements.
Assist with the review and analysis of a wide range of documents and draft comments to be discussed with internal and external operations, legal and accounting teams.
Maintain documentation of operational and financial controls. Update, execute and document the results of controls tests. Review documentation of the results of controls tests.
Interact with internal and external customers, other accounting team members, asset managers, property managers and all necessary departments to ensure prompt resolution of issues and achieve maximum efficiency of operations.
Support and assist the investment and fund accounting teams by researching technical guidance on complex transactions and issues.
Prepare and analyze quarterly/annual financial statements including supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP.
Prepare work papers and ensure the fulfillment of financial reporting requirements for external and internal audits and tax accountants. Informs management as to any discrepancies or any other problem areas that may exist that arise from the audit.
Record the fair value adjustments for investments in real estate and debt in order to prepare quarterly/annual fair value financial statements.
Assist in forecasting of monthly financial results and cash projections based on budgets and known trends.
Assist with special projects and other related duties as may be assigned.

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
1-2 yrs. Accountant experience
Current US GAAP technical knowledge and research capability.
Commercial Real Estate accounting experience.
Real Estate accounting software or Yardi experience
Technical or Public Accounting experience.
Qualifications may warrant placement in different job title.
CPA is preferred
Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time; frequently required to stand, walk and use business equipment daily such as P.C., copier, fax telephone, etc.; frequently required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 25 lbs.
Ability to handle stress caused by multiple priorities, and other unforeseen situations associated with the organization.
Eyesight and hearing must be correctable to standard level.
