A business with multiple investments needs an accountant to oversee one assistant and all accounting for the multiple entities. Duties would include preparing payroll and payroll reports; notarizing documents; overseeing bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable; reviewing commercial loan documents for proper accounting input; and preparing information for tax returns that are prepared by outside firm. Reporting organizational finances to senior management, preparation of cash flow forecasts, and offering suggestions about resource utilization and assumptions underlying budgets would be key elements of the work week. Experience with QuickBooks is required.
Because continuing education is important, the Accountant will be encouraged to attend approved seminars during the year.
A Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required, along with knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within real estate, stock, and bond portfolio accounting. In addition, the candidate should have experience with private lending, mortgage amortization, and equity participation. The candidate will also possess excellent written and oral communication skills, strong attention to detail and discretion, and the ability to work independently in a quiet office. The candidate will be eager to learn about and to take on new, different types of investments.
