The City of Austin Employees’ Retirement System (COAERS) is currently seeking applications from investment professionals for the position of Investment Analyst. The position will analyze investment risk/return data, conduct performance attribution, carry out peer benchmarking, and effect investment operations tasks. The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the Chief Investment Officer with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. COAERS is seeking candidates with high ethical standards that are motivated by the challenge of guiding committed trustees through complex investment decisions. Experience and Education
An undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in finance, business, economics, or a related field is required. In addition, three years of full-time professional institutional investment management experience or other relevant experience in corporate development, investment banking, hedge funds, private equity, or similar background is required. Experience in data analysis and/or simulation modeling, programming skills, and exposure to multiple asset classes are preferred.
Registration, Certification, or Licensure
A Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master's degree related to finance, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) are preferred credentials.
Additional Salary Information: The starting salary will be between $95,000 and $125,000 annually with the actual salary corresponding to the experience level and credentials of the candidate within the parameters of public sector compensation. The City of Austin Employees' Retirement System (COAERS) administers retirement, disability, and death benefit programs for regular full-time employees of the City of Austin.
Responsibility for the operation and administration of COAERS is vested in an eleven-member Board of Trustees. The Executive Director, who is appointed by the Board, is responsible for the day-to-day management of the System. The Board also engages professional investment management firms to invest the assets of the System with assistance from an independent investment consultant.
COAERS serves more than 9,300 active members and over 5,900 retirees and surviving beneficiaries who receive monthly benefits. As of November 30, 2017 the System's assets totaled approximately $2.6 billion.
