Job Description The Assistant Vice President for University Advancement Business Operations (AVPBO) provides both operational and programmatic support to University Advancement. The AVPBO supervises the Advancement Services and Endowment Services departments within University Advancement and supervises the financial management of the assets held in the Texas State University Development Foundation. In addition, the AVPBO directly assists the Vice President for University Advancement (VPUA) on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and personnel matters.
The AVPBO works closely with the Human Resources department to manage the performance management program and to implement best practices regarding personnel recruitment, retention and professional development. The AVPBO reports directly to the Vice President for University Advancement and Executive Director of the Development Foundation, and works in close collaboration with the Vice President for Finance and Support Services and the University Treasurer regarding accounting procedures, management of endowment funds and financial reporting related to University Advancement and Development Foundation.
Assist in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organization's mission and help execute staff succession and growth plans.
Insure that the financial management and reporting of the philanthropic funds and the finances of University Advancement are managed according to standard accepted accounting principles, university policies and adhere to the industry's reporting criteria as defined by CASE Campaign standards.
Provides leadership for management of division resources and personnel management in compliance with university policies and procedures.
Coordinates the review of the UA compensation plan annually ensuring proper pay plan relationships.
Responsible for all reporting to the various external agencies related to the financial management of the philanthropic funds including the VSE Report, the Texas State University System Knowledge Performance Indicators, Strategic Planning and other reports as needed.
Ensure adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all financial transactions may pass independent and university audits.
Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities of the division and the development foundation including organizational revenue and expenses and balance sheet reports, reports to funding agencies, development and monitoring of organizational and contractual and grant budgets.
Coordinate the investment management advisors work with the Development Foundation and serve as the primary contact with the investment advisors and the development foundation investment committee.
Support the university's mission and the vision of University Advancement through strategic planning, performance management and adherence to the university policies and procedures.
